Wailulu Bar and Grill Review at Disney’s Polynesian Resort Island Tower

During our visit to Walt Disney World, we enjoyed a late dinner at Wailulu Bar and Grill, and it turned out to be one of the best meals of the trip! We tried a few of the highlights from the menu: the Wayfinder Burger, the Chow Mein Salad with Sautéed Shrimp, and the DOLE Whip Sundae for dessert. Here’s our review of the Wailulu Bar and Grill at Polynesian Resort Island Tower:

After a long day at the parks, we took a boat from Magic Kingdom to Polynesian Resort for dinner. From the boat, we took a quick walk over to Disney’s Polynesian Resort Island Tower to grab dinner at Wailulu Bar and Grill. The space has Polynesian charm with a fresh, modern twist, and it feels like the kind of place where you can slow down for a bit after a long park day. We visited during the holidays, so there were garlands and lights that made it feel very festive.

What We Ordered

Wayfinder Burger

I was told by our server that the Wayfinder Burger has been receiving rave reviews, even calling it the best burger on Disney property. I knew I had to order it to find out for myself. This burger is a double-patty smash burger served with American cheese, fresh toppings, and Volcano sauce. The patties have crisp edges, while the burger remained juicy and full of flavor. This burger was way better than I expected. The double smash patties had those delicious crispy edges and was still juicy. The burger was also seasoned really well, I believe the meat is marinated, which explains the delicious flavors! The Volcano sauce added just the right amount of extra flavor and has some heat to it, so if you are sensitive to spicy foods, I would request the sauce on the side. The sweet potato fries were good but not outstanding, the macaroni salad receives rave reviews, so I will opt for that next time.

Chow Mein Salad with Sautéed Shrimp

If you like something fresh and crunchy, this salad hits the spot. The salad was very large and the vegetables was chopped nicely. We added sautéed shrimp and were surprised how large they were. The shrimp were cooked perfectly! It was a lighter option but very filling.

DOLE Whip Sundae

Of course we had to try dessert. This is basically a little DOLE Whip celebration in a bowl. The fruit, the hibiscus meringues, the pink Mickey topper… it is adorable and delicious. It is also the perfect size for sharing.

Our Final Thoughts on Wailulu Bar and Grill

I truly think that Wailulu Bar and Grill is one of Disney’s best-kept secrets. Like other resort lounges or bar and grill options, not too many people talk about it. Maybe they are trying to keep the secret, but I think it’s worth sharing. The food was outstanding, yes, the burger was the very best burger I’ve ever had on Disney Property.

The outdoor bar area was lovely, and the indoor dining area was elegant yet casual and would be a great option when you’d prefer an air-conditioned space. Wailulu Bar and Grill feels like a great addition to the Polynesian, and I can’t wait to go back! If you are planning a Disney trip and find yourself near the Polynesian, it is worth getting a reservation for lunch or dinner.
