The Cake Bake Shop is an elegant sit-down restaurant and bakery located along Disney’s BoardWalk, between EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It is known for its delicious cakes and baked goods, gorgeous dining rooms, and delicious comfort food. See what we thought of this bakery and restaurant in our detailed review of the Cake Bake Shop in Disney World.

I visited in December while the BoardWalk and the restaurant were decorated for Christmas, and it was a truly magical (and sparkly!) experience.

Inside, the dining rooms are filled with chandeliers, lovely furniture, pink, white, and gold accents, and holiday garland and twinkling lights everywhere! We spotted Santa and reindeer rotating on top of the “Crown Table” which is a special seating area in the main dining rooms.

There was a gorgeous area decorated with a sled filled with gifts and polar bears. Everywhere we looked, there was a touch of winter magic! If you stop over to visit the bakery next door, you’ll find glass cases displaying towering, beautifully decorated cakes.

How to get to The Cake Bake Shop in Walt Disney World

The Cake Bake Shop is located on Disney’s BoardWalk, which makes it easy to reach from several areas around Walt Disney World. Guests can get to The Cake Bake by:

  • Walk from EPCOT’s International Gateway over the bridge to the boardwalk, where you will find the Cake Bake
  • The Disney Skyliner from Hollywood Studios (to the International Gateway), then walk over to the Boardwalk area.
  • The Friendship Boats, which depart from EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, The Boardwalk Resort, The Beach and Yacht Club Resorts, and the Swan and Dolphin Resorts.
  • Walking paths from nearby resorts
  • Rideshare services like Lyft or Uber can take you to the Boardwalk Resort, then walk through the resort to access the Boardwalk and find the Cake Bake Shop.

If you are driving, dining guests can usually park at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, though parking may be limited during busy times, and you usually need to have a reservation to park at the Boardwalk.

The Menu at the Cake Bake

The Cake Bake Shop is, of course, known for its cake! You’ll find plenty of cake options on the menu, but you will also find a full menu for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and a special Afternoon Tea. You can view the full menu on the Disney website here.

What I Ordered

We had a dinner reservation, so we enjoyed drinks, entrees, dessert, and coffee.

We started our meal with some drinks, had the Pink Lady Margarita, it was full of sparkles (a theme you will soon notice!) and delicious! It has a pretty, sparkly, sugar-coated rim, which made it extra festive and fun, especially during our holiday visit.

My friend ordered a non-alcoholic Lavender Lemonade with her meal, and later enjoyed a Peach Bellini (and yes, both were sparkly, too!)

For my main dish, I ordered the Chicken Piccata, a Parmesan breaded chicken breast served with lemon caper pasta and arugula. It was delicious, very satisfying and more flavorful than I expected. It was also a very large serving! My friend ordered Gwendolyn’s Signature Chicken and Andouille Gumbo. It was served over long grain white rice and topped with chopped parsley, with New Orleans Crystal hot sauce and toasted Gambino’s French bread on the side. Thankfully, she was willing to share a bite of the gumbo for me to try. It was hearty and full of flavor, I can understand why it is so popular!

We knew we had to save room for dessert because you can’t go to the Cake Bake Shop and skip the cake! For dessert, I chose the Spiced Carrot Cake. It is made without nuts or raisins and was filled and cream cheese frosted. I love carrot cake, and while I missed the nuts that I typically put in my recipe, it was so truly delicious!

My friend ordered the Cookie Dough Cake, which she again let me try! This vanilla cake had miniature chocolate chips, filled with Belgian chocolate ganache and chocolate chip cookie dough. It was topped with vanilla buttercream and miniature fleur de sel chocolate chip cookies. It was very rich and had great flavor! Both cakes were beautiful as well as sparkly (are you seeing the sparkly pattern?)

The table next to us ordered the Lemon Blueberry Cake, which looked incredible and immediately went on my list for a future visit.

We finished our meal with a cappuccino and a regular cup of coffee, which was a nice way to relax and enjoy the atmosphere a bit longer.

Portion Sizes and Food Quality

Portions at The Cake Bake Shop are generous; if you are planning to have dessert, you may want to plan to bring home your leftovers. The cake slices are huge! One slice of cake can easily be shared between two people; however, I did such a good job on my piece, there wasn’t much left to share!

The quality of the food stood out across the menu. Each dish was fresh, they were full of flavor, and nothing felt overly sweet or rushed. Even the cake frosting was not overly sweet, which I really appreciated!

Celebrating at the Cake Bake

We celebrated my belated birthday while we were at the Cake Bake, and when the desserts were brought out, there was a special presentation, which I won’t spoil for you, but I would highly recommend celebrating something while you are there. Make a note of it on your reservation so your server will know. It’s never too late to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or accomplishment that has passed.

The Cost of Dining at The Cake Bake Shop

The Cake Bake Shop is priced higher than most Disney dining locations. The first thing I ever ordered from the Cake Bake Shop was a single slice of cake to-go from the bakery when they first opened in 2024. My single slice of cake cost $20+! (I shared it with my daughter) Yes, $20 is very high for a typical piece of cake, but this was a fantastic dining experience. I was pretty happy with our cost to enjoy a full meal. Our check for two people, including drinks, entrees, desserts, and coffee, was under $200! Not bad for such an elegant experience and delicious meal.

This is not a quick service stop or a budget-friendly meal, but it works well as a special occasion restaurant. Between the portion sizes, quality, service, and atmosphere, it feels like a planned experience rather than a last-minute snack stop.

Service and Overall Experience

Service during our visit was friendly, professional, and not rushed. Our server, Alexis, was fantastic and didn’t miss a thing! She explained the menu options and gave us plenty of time to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed.

The entire experience felt polished and relaxing, which can be hard to find during a busy Disney trip.

Who This Restaurant Is Best For

The Cake Bake Shop is a great choice for a special date night, birthday, anniversary, or other celebration. It’s a quiet space, so not a great space if you have a rowdy crew who just want to eat and go. It is truly a dining experience that you’ll want to take your time to enjoy. While there is no dress code, it’s a nice excuse to dress up.

Final Thoughts

Visiting The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers during the Christmas season made the experience even more memorable. The holiday decor added to the already elegant setting, and the calm BoardWalk atmosphere made it feel like a true break from the parks.

The restaurant is calm and welcoming, which was a nice change from the busy parks. While families are more than welcome, the atmosphere is more elevated and quiet and might be better suited for adults, couples, or friends looking to slow down and enjoy a quieter meal. This is a restaurant worth planning for when you want to slow down, celebrate, or enjoy a festive evening outside the parks. It is not a quick stop, but it is a memorable one.

I plan on going back with my daughter the next time we are in Walt Disney World, and I hope to try their breakfast or afternoon tea. This is definitely on my top dining experience list!
