Review of The Plaza Restaurant in Magic Kingdom

The Plaza Restaurant is located on Main Street U.S.A. across from Casey’s corner. It was opened in 1973 and has great views of Cinderella’s castle. It is a pretty simple restaurant with a small offering of American dishes on their menu. The Plaza Restaurant is a great table service option if you are looking for a place in Magic Kingdom.
The Atmosphere
The Plaza Restaurant has Victorian-inspired decor and architecture and feels like a turn-of-the century parlor with pretty wallpaper and lots of wooden moulding. There were many families dining there when we visited.

You will notice several tables with umbrellas outside of the restaurant. These tables are for patrons of the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor and are open to all guests in the park who need somewhere to eat. You are not able to request to eat outside, unfortunately – all dining is inside.

The Menu
The Plaza Restaurant has a limited menu that includes just 4 appetizers and 8 entrees on their main menu. The lunch and dinner menu offer the same options; You’ll find generous appetizers of loaded french fries, onion rings, soup or salad for an appetizer. The entrees include the popular Post Roast Stack, Burgers (including a plant-based option, sandwiches, and large salads.

Like all restaurants at Disney World, the menu changes occasionally, so be sure to check the Disney site for the most up-to-date offerings.
Kid’s Menu Options:
They offer several kid-friendly options on the kids’ menu. Kids can create their own entree by selecting from one of four entree options: Cheeseburger, Turkey Sandwich, Macaroni & Cheese, and Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich.
In addition to the entree, they can choose from several sides and treats with their meal. Options include seasonal vegetables, sliced apples, mashed potatoes, fresh fruit, ice cream cones, mini chocolate chip cookies, and milk.
Artisanal Shakes
The Plaza Restaurant is attached to the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, so you can also order a delicious milkshake to go with your meal. We were too full from our salads, so we had to skip the shakes. They have several flavors to choose from. The Key Lime shake and chocolate pecan brownie shake sound delicious! Next time, I’ll be sure to save some room and try one!
Desserts
If a milkshake isn’t your thing, you can also pick from other delicious sundae options, such as banana split, cakes, and bread pudding.
What We Enjoyed:
I ordered the Shrimp Louis Salad, which included seasoned grilled shrimp, fresh lettuce, tomato, cucumber, avocado, and hard-boiled eggs served with a Rémoualde dressing. It was a very generous portion and the flavors were good. I feel like it could have used a little salt, but I always think food could use an extra dash of salt.
My friend ordered the Chicken Waldorf Salad. Her salad looked delicious too! It was made with lettuce, chicken, celery, apples, grapes, pecans, and blue cheese crumbles, topped with an apple cider vinaigrette dressing.

The Cost of Dining at The Plaza Restaurant
The prices at the Plaza Restaurant were pretty great! I was surprised that my bill was very reasonable. My very large Shrimp Louie Salad was $22 and could have easily been shared; I was lucky if I was able to eat half of it. If my teenage daughter were along, I would have split this with her and saved some room for a sundae or milkshake!
Kid’s meals are around $11-13, including a drink, a side, and a dessert (or an additional side)! I felt like the pricing was pretty great!
Overall Thoughts
I was pleasantly surprised by our meals at the Plaza Restaurant. My Salad was very fresh and delicious. Sitting by a window is a plus, with the nice view of Cinderella’s Castle. The value of this meal was what made this a winner. This is easily one of the more affordable table service options at Magic Kingdom. I especially enjoyed having fresh vegetables and a lighter salad for lunch on a hot park day.
