With convenient transportation, strong dining options, and great pool areas, it is a resort that works especially well for families who want to enjoy both the parks and their resort time.
Our Overall Impression of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
We stayed at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge in June 2025 as part of my daughter’s graduation trip and traveled with my 19-year-old daughter. Even though this was a milestone trip, the resort felt just as well-suited for families with younger kids.
One of the biggest highlights of Wilderness Lodge is its location near Magic Kingdom. Being so close made getting to the park easy, and the boat transportation was a major convenience. We also loved being able to watch fireworks from the resort, which added an extra benefit without needing to be inside the park.

The pools were fantastic, and the dining options on site worked well for families. Overall, Wilderness Lodge strikes a good balance between feeling relaxing while still keeping you close to the parks.
The Theme and Atmosphere of Wilderness Lodge Resort
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge feels both cozy and grand. The main lobby is large and impressive, with tall ceilings and rustic details that reflect the resort’s National Park-inspired theme. I’d encourage you to do a little exploring and visit some of the higher floors, each floor has different cozy areas to sit with nice views. I found a quiet place to work for a few hours during our stay.

While much of the resort feels quiet, the lobby can feel busier at times. The table service restaurant, Whispering Canyon Cafe is located just off the lobby, which brings more foot traffic and noise during peak dining times, but it never felt overwhelming.

Outside, the resort grounds feel calm and peaceful. The walking paths along the water were so peaceful.

One of our favorite moments was spending the morning on the boat dock with coffee while watching the sunrise.

Where is Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort?
The location of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is one of its biggest strengths. Its considered a Magic Kingdom Resort, located along the water of Bay Lake. While staying at the resort, it feels secluded and tucked away. At the same time, a short boat ride brings you directly to the entrance of Magic Kingdom, making it easy to go back and forth throughout the day.

Transportation to the Parks
Transportation at Wilderness Lodge was easy and reliable during our stay. We primarily used the boat to travel to Magic Kingdom and the nearby Monorail resorts. The boat ride was peaceful, scenic, and quick, which made it a great way to start and end park days.
Disney bus transportation is available for all of the parks, including Magic Kingdom. Overall, the combination of boat and bus transportation makes Wilderness Lodge very convenient for families.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET TO EACH PARK FROM Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort?
- EPCOT is only 4 miles away and the bus takes about 10 minutes.
- Magic Kingdom is around 6 miles away, about a 10-14 minute boat ride or 10 minutes via bus.

Rooms At Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort

During our stay, we booked a Resort View Room with two queen beds. Resort View Rooms offer views of landscaping, trees, rooftops, or parking areas and sleep up to four adults.
The room layout worked well and felt spacious. Even without a premium view, the peaceful setting and overall atmosphere of the resort made the room a comfortable place to return to at the end of the day.

The rooms at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are furnished well with a small table and 2 chairs. The beds are very comfortable! The headboards are lovely, and there’s plenty of space under the beds for your luggage, which is a huge space saver and something I think is important if you’re traveling with lots of luggage. The room also has two chairs with nesting snack tables.
The decor followed a modern Pacific Northwest style with subtle references to cabins and the surrounding woods.

The rooms at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are spacious and thoughtfully designed. The furniture felt updated, and the decor followed a modern Pacific Northwest style with subtle references to cabins and the surrounding woods.
You will find plenty of plugs and USB outlets throughout the rooms. There are 2 USB and 2 standard plugs between the beds at the nightstand. You will also find 4 more USB and 4 more plugs at the dresser. This is so helpful if you’re charging phones, MagicBands, rechargeable power banks, fans, or other electronics.
We did have an issue with the air conditioner running continuously and making the room too cold. After contacting maintenance, the issue was fixed quickly.

The coffee and beverage area included shelving for food, a drawer stocked with coffee and tea supplies, and a beverage cooler located inside the cabinet.
Your room also comes with a Cuisinart coffee maker that will make a single cup of coffee using Joffrey’s Coffee pods that are provided. You’ll also receive Twinings tea bags and a few coffee creamers and sugars.
Don’t hesitate to request a refill or extra coffees, teas, sugars, creamers, cups, etc. Housekeeping is happy to refill your items during your stay. There’s also an ice bucket you can use and fill at the ice machines throughout the resort.
Storage in our Room

There was plenty of storage in our Wilderness Lodge room. When we entered the room, there were two tall cabinets on the right. One included shelving, a safe, and an iron. These shelves were great for clothing and shoe storage. The other cabinet served as a wardrobe with extra bedding and plenty of hanging space. Under the TV were six drawers for clothing and personal items.
When we travel with our kids, we always bring a super convenient foldable closet organizer and a shoe organizer. This gives us extra storage for their clothes or shoes when there aren’t enough drawers for everyone.
The Bathroom Layout at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

A sliding pocket door separated the main sleeping area from the bathroom. The toilet, tub, and shower were in a separate room from the vanity and sink, which made the layout convenient. The shower was really nice with a rainfall showerhead and hand held shower sprayer, which was a nice upgrade. You’ll also have a double sink in the vanity area.
You’ll find Disney bath products (formerly H2O products) in the shower, including body Wash, shampoo, and conditioner. Soap and lotion are usualy found at the sinks,
Storage in the bathroom area included an extra shelf at the vanity below the mirror, where we like to keep our toiletries, haircare, and makeup products. There are shelves below the sink and a makeup mirror that lights up.

The Pools At Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has two pool areas. Copper Creek Springs Pool is the main pool and is well suited for families. It includes a waterslide built into the rockwork, hot and cold whirlpool spas, and a children’s activity area. This pool tends to be more active and lively.
Boulder Ridge Cove Pool is quieter and more relaxed. We spent time at this pool and appreciated the calm atmosphere, plenty of seating, and nearby hot tubs. It was a great place to unwind.
Both pool areas provide complimentary towels and seating options.
Resort Activities
Wilderness Lodge offers a variety of family-friendly activities throughout the week. These often include campfire experiences, outdoor movies, and seasonal programming.
Guests can also enjoy walking trails and outdoor spaces throughout the resort. In the evenings, the Electrical Water Pageant passes by the resort on Bay Lake and can be viewed from the waterfront.
While we did not participate in the scheduled activities during our stay, the options available make Wilderness Lodge a good choice for families looking for a resort with good entertainment. Regular rates for standard rooms at Wilderness Lodge in 2025 started at $546 per night. Annual Passholder discounts can be up to 30% off during special offers.
As a Deluxe Disney resort, Wilderness Lodge is priced higher than Value or Moderate resorts. This resort is worth the cost if being close to Magic Kingdom is a priority and if you plan to take advantage of the resort amenities, including pools, dining, and transportation.
