‘Ohana Best Friends Breakfast with Lilo and Stitch Review

On my most recent trip to Walt Disney World, I finally made it to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for breakfast at ‘Ohana! This character meal has been on my list for ages, and I was so excited to finally book a reservation. The ‘Ohana character breakfast includes visits from Stitch, Lilo, Mickey, and Pluto.

Reservations are required and can be tough to get, so I recommend planning ahead and trying to get your reservation as soon as possible.

Atmosphere & Dining Style

‘Ohana was bright, airy, and had a great tropical feel. The theming was done really well; there were Polynesian touches throughout; some areas were even made to look like a hut, with reeds on the ceilings. Carved tiki were located throughout the dining room and the seating and carpets were designed with Polynesian colors and patterns. The open kitchen concept was a nice touch as well.

There is plenty of tables and seating in the dining room and the seating by the windows have a nice view of the Polynesian Resort, Seven Seas Lagoon; you can even look across the water to see Magic Kingdom and even take a peek at Cinderella’s Castle. If you come for dinner at ‘Ohana at the right time, you will have a great view of the nightly Magic Kingdom fireworks right from the window tables.

Meals are served family-style with large platters of food brought to your table. Still hungry? You can ask for more food at any time. This gives you the “all-you-care-to-enjoy” feel of a buffet, without having to leave your seat.

The Food

Drinks include coffee, fountain drinks, and the famous POG juice (passionfruit, orange, and guava). You can request, for an additional charge, a French-press pot of 100% Kona coffee (serves 2).

Breakfast began with warm pineapple-coconut pull-apart bread, served with guava butter; this was one of the highlights of my meal. I could have easily filled up on the bread, so be careful that you save room for the rest of your meal.

The main platters included:

  • Scrambled eggs
  • Mickey and Stitch shaped Waffles
  • Bacon
  • Pork Breakfast Sausage Links
  • Hawaiian-style Ham topped with Pineapple
  • Fried Island-style Potatoes
  • Biscuits
  • Fresh fruit

The food was tasty overall, though the scrambled eggs were the typical Disney “liquid” eggs, which I find disappointing compared to fresh eggs. The bacon was cooked perfectly, and the bread and fruit were standouts.

Character Interactions

This meal is all about Stitch and his friends. Each character came to our table for photos, autographs, and fun interactions. Nothing felt rushed, and we had plenty of time for individual pictures.

At one point, the characters paraded around the dining room for a short dance party. Pre-pandemic, kids were invited to join in, but now it’s limited to characters only. It was still fun to watch, though I do miss the more interactive version.

We were also given a card with character signatures when we arrived, but autographs are still welcome during the meal.

Great Service at ‘Ohana

Our server was attentive, though I think the service may have been better earlier in the morning; we were the last seating for breakfast. I think our cast member was tired; she wasn’t overly chipper and outgoing, but she took great care of us. Our coffees were refilled regularly, and food platters were replenished without hesitation. Despite having a later breakfast reservation, we never felt rushed. In fact, as the dining room cleared, it felt more relaxed.

What You Need to Know Before You Go

  • Cost: Character dining at Disney is pricey and ‘Ohana is no different. The meals at ‘Ohana breakfast cost $35 for children to $59.99 per adult. *Prices may change.
  • Reservations: Required and often hard to get. If you are staying at Walt Disney World you can reserve your reservation 60 days in advance.
  • Timing: Breakfast is served until 11:00 a.m. A great strategy is to rope drop Magic Kingdom, enjoy a few rides, then take the monorail to Polynesian for a late breakfast.
  • Family-style dining: Endless refills without leaving your table.
  • Characters: Great opportunity to meet Stitch, Lilo, and some other classic favorites like Mickey and Pluto without waiting in park lines.

Comparisons & Final Thoughts

I would rate this meal alongside Chef Mickey’s for quality of character interactions. I actually enjoyed the character interactions more at 1900 Park Fare and Hollywood and Vine. The food isn’t the best breakfast you’ll ever have, but it’s solid, and the atmosphere plus characters make the experience worth the price.

Ratings:

Overall, I was impressed and look forward to going back for breakfast during a future trip. I’m also looking forward to trying dinner at ‘Ohana. This is a great breakfast at Walt Disney World, where you can meet characters. It is an especially great pick if you have kids who love Lilo & Stitch or if you want to meet Mickey without waiting in a long line at the parks.
