A stay at a Disney World Resort is a dream come true for many families. For some families, it’s a one-in-a-lifetime trip. Staying at a Disney World Resort offers your family an extra special time, from the hotel’s theming to the delicious dining options and immaculate service.
Why Tipping Disney World Resort Mousekeeping Staff is Important
In this article, we’ll delve into the reasons why you should tip the housekeeping staff at Disney World Resorts, explore the extra-special touches they add to your hotel room, and offer guidance on how much to tip, as well as alternative ways to express your gratitude.
Tipping the housekeeping staff at Disney World Resorts is a kind way to show your appreciation for their hard work. These dedicated cast members work tirelessly to make sure your room is a calm and clean space for you to return to after a busy day at the parks.
Their efforts contribute to the overall Disney experience, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the magic without worrying about the practical details. Let’s be honest none of us want to clean bathrooms while on vacation, so we are very thankful for their hard work!
We also try to remind our kids that someone worked hard to make our room look this nice. While we believe in Disney Magic, I want, especially my older teen, to know that the resort room didn’t just magically clean itself, to remind them that the housekeepers work very hard to make our trip special.
Extra-Special Touches by Mousekeepers
The housekeeping staff at Disney World adds their own touch of magic to your hotel room, making your stay even more enchanting. These extra-special gestures demonstrate their commitment to ensuring that your Disney experience is exceptional:
Towel Origami:
Mousekeepers often create fun towel animal shapes and other creative designs. We always love returning to our room after a busy park day to see what surprise they left behind.
Bed Decorations:
If your child(ren) brings along a special stuffed toy, some Mousekeeping staff will have fun creating a special scene with their toys. Your kids will love seeing what adventures their favorite stuffed animal was on while they were away.
Tidying up:
One thing that I think Disney Mousekeepers do better than most other hotel housekeepers is the attention to detail and the time that they take in each room.
Other special Touches:
On our last trip, I brought several Mouse Ear Headbands to wear to the park. The Mousekeeping team came up with a creative way for me to display the ears… it was super cute!
How Much to Tip Housekeeping Staff at Disney World Resorts
Unfortunately, tipping has become a controversial topic. It is also a very American tradition that other countries don’t do as often. So there is often some confusion or worry about how much to tip. I know that taking a Disney Vacation is an extreme luxury for many families. Adding in a daily tip for housekeeping staff might feel like a stretch. On our first trip, I saved extra cash just for the tips before our trip.
We typically tip Mousekeeping around $5 per day, sometimes more. We are sure to leave the tip envelope where it won’t be missed, usually on one of the bed pillows.
Leaving a tip in a Mousekeeping envelope will reassure the housekeeping staff that the tip is for them to take and won’t be overlooked.
When Should I Tip Mousekeepers at Disney World Resorts?
We try to leave our tips daily since it’s common for different housekeepers to clean your room throughout the week. This way the person cleaning your room for the day gets the tip. Some people leave a tip at the end or beginning of the week, this is just not our preference.

Additional Ways to Thank Housekeeping Staff
Just a reminder that tipping Mousekeeping staff at Walt Disney World Resorts is never expected or required. If you are unable to leave a tip there are plenty of other ways to thank Mousekeepers for their hard work and dedication:
Share Positive Feedback:
One of the best ways to thank any staff at Disney World is to talk with Guest Relations and leave a positive review or compliment. In addition to this, you can leave a cast compliment through the My Disney Experience App. If you encounter Mousekeepers who exceed your expectations, consider sharing your positive feedback through a cast compliment.
Leave a Thank-You Note
Consider leaving a handwritten thank-you note expressing your gratitude. Personal notes have a lasting impact and show that you genuinely appreciate their efforts. You can even get your children involved. Have them simply write “Thank You” on a piece of paper (who doesn’t love a cute handwritten note from a child?) It is a great way to teach your children the importance of showing gratitude. Taking a minute to write a quick thank you note means a lot.
Leave a special treat
Putting together small baggies of snacks, treats, or even small Disney-themed items can be a charming way to convey your thanks.
Say Thank You with a Smile
Sometimes a simple smile and a heartfelt “thank you” can brighten someone’s day and make them feel valued. We try hard to say thank you as often as possible to all the staff. Our kids get lots of “please” and “thank you” practice at Disney World.
