Disney’s Animal Kingdom has more than just exhibits with animals; it is a beautiful park with incredible shows, thrilling rides, and up-close encounters with animals. Guests can soar on the back of a banshee in Pandora, experience a safari across the African savanna, and even be educated about animals, their habitat, and conservation efforts to protect many species.

Rides in Discovery Island
Zootopia: Better Together
This new attraction featuring the Zootopia crew is opening Nov. 7, 2025! (This is not a moving ride; it is of a show with 4D special effects.)
Rides in Pandora – the World of Avatar
Avatar Flight of Passage
The World of Avatar, this 3D simulator, lets you soar on the back of a banshee over the landscapes of Pandora. The visuals, motion, and even scents make it one of Disney’s most immersive experiences. The floating mountains mark the pavilion’s location.
Na’vi River Journey
Also in Pandora, this slow-moving boat ride takes you through bioluminescent forests full of glowing plants and gentle creatures. The Shaman of Songs animatronic is a highlight at the finale. It’s peaceful and family-friendly.
Rides in Animal Kingdom’s Africa
Kilimanjaro Safaris
In Africa, climb aboard an open-air safari truck to see live animals across sprawling savannas, forests, and wetlands. Each ride is different depending on which animals are active. The massive savanna backdrop makes it feel like a real African safari.
Wildlife Express Train
The Wildlife Express Train departs from Africa and takes you to Rafiki’s Planet Watch, a conservation and animal care area. Here you’ll find a petting zoo, educational exhibits, and the veterinary care center. It’s quieter and often overlooked, making it a hidden gem.
Rides in Animal Kingdom’s Asia
Kali River Rapids
Also in Asia, this raft ride sends you spinning down river rapids with splashes guaranteed. It mixes natural beauty with a story about deforestation and conservation. Be prepared to get soaked, especially in the warmer months.
Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
This high-speed coaster races through snowy peaks and encounters the mythical Yeti. It features both forward and backward track sections and one major drop. The towering mountain is one of the park’s most recognizable icons.
Rides in Dinoland U.S.A (Soon to Be: Pueblo Esperanza – The Tropical Americas)
DINOSAUR – Closing Feb. 2, 2026 – to become an Indiana Jones Ride!
In DinoLand U.S.A., this dark ride sends you on a time-traveling mission to rescue a dinosaur before a meteor strike. The ride is dark, bumpy, and full of sudden encounters with massive dinosaurs. The museum-style exterior sets the stage.
All of Dinoland U.S.A will soon be turned into a new land: Pueblo Esperanza. This new land will be themed around the Tropical Americas, featuring lush rainforest theming, Spanish-style architecture, a grand hacienda for quick service dining, a giant carousel, plus two signature attractions: one based on Encanto and the new Indiana Jones adventure.
