What to Pack for Your Disney Vacation

A trip to Disney World isn’t like a beach weekend or a quick city break. Most days, you’ll walk miles and miles and spend a lot of time waiting in line. In Florida, you’ll deal with heat, humidity, and sudden rain showers that could quickly ruin your day if you’re not prepared. You’ll want to head back to your Disney resort at the end of the night and have everything you need to get comfortable, enjoy the pools, and rest before you head back to the parks the next day.

When you plan, you’ll cut down on stress and avoid buying overpriced items you forgot to pack in the gift shops.

This Disney World packing list works best for older kids, teens, and adults. If you’re traveling with babies or toddlers, there’s a section for them near the bottom.

Clothes and accessories for Disney World

Comfort matters most at Disney. On many trips, we hit 15,000 – 20,000 steps in a day, so think breathable clothes and shoes you already trust.

What to pack

  • T-shirts and lightweight tops
  • Shorts, light pants, or athletic dresses
  • Sweatshirt or light jacket (nights can feel cool)
  • Comfortable sneakers
  • Sandals or flip flops
  • Swimsuits and cover-ups
  • Socks (pack extras if rain is likely)
  • Undergarments and pajamas
  • Hat or visor
  • Sunglasses
  • Minnie or Mickey ears
  • A dressier outfit if you have plans to go to a nicer restaurant or a Disney’s Signature Dining that has a dress code.

⭐️ Tip from experience: don’t bring brand-new shoes. Break them in by wearing them at home, even on short walks before your trip, so they don’t ruin your first park day.

Disneybounding

Disneybounding is dressing in a theme that matches the look of a favorite Disney character. It’s a fun way to dress up without wearing a full costume! You can see a few ideas here.

Park bag must-haves

Your park bag is basically your daily backup plan. I’ve learned the hard way that forgetting one small thing (like wipes or a poncho) can throw off the whole day.

If you want a full, more detailed checklist, read my Ultimate Disney Park Bag Packing List post and get a super-detailed printable list. For now, here are the main items.

Pack these each day

Florida weather changes fast, so being ready helps you stay in the park instead of heading back to the room.

Mickey Fan – Pill Holder – Label Maker

Electronics to bring

At Disney, your phone does a lot. You’ll use MyDisneyExperience for your tickets, checking ride wait times, Mobile ordering, and capturing the memories with photos and videos, so keeping it powered up is important.

Be sure to pack:

  • Cell phone
  • Phone charger and cord for your hotel room
  • Multi-item charging dock
  • Portable battery pack or Fuel Rods. Fuel Rods can be purchased online and recharged. When they run out you can find a FuelRod machine in the Disney Parks that will allow you to swap yours for a fully charged one for free!
  • MagicBands or park tickets
  • Camera and battery (or chargers)
  • Extra memory cards
  • AirTags (optional, but nice for luggage or strollers)

Toiletries and personal care

Disney resort rooms usually have basic shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Still, if you like your own products, toss them in your toiletry bag along with these items:

⭐️ Chafing is a REAL issue in the Florida humidity! Make sure you are prepared by packing anti-chafe creams, powders, and sticks. Shop our guide here.

Medications and first aid

Each park has a First Aid center, but it’s easier to handle small issues on the spot. Ordering a small fully-stocked first aid kit is a great start, but you’ll want to make sure you have these essentials packed:

A labeled pill organizer also helps a ton on park mornings. Be sure to download the free printable list to see the detailed list of what to pack!

Food and small kitchen items

Yes, you can bring food into Disney World. I always pack snacks, because it saves money and keeps everyone happier during long waits. You may also want some snacks and food items in your resort room so you have quick snacks to grab if you’re hungry. The list includes a few items your family may find helpful. We typically order our groceries and have them delivered to the resort from Instacart and pick them up from Bell Services when we arrive (There is a small charge of about $6 for Disney to hold your packages; this includes groceries)

snack ideas To Pack

  • Granola bars
  • Crackers
  • Fruit snacks
  • Apples, bananas, or clementines
  • Protein bars

In addition, these items come in handy:

  • Reusable straws – Disney only has paper straws in the parks – which is no fun after a few minutes of drinking. Consider ordering regular straws and a few larger straws for milkshakes or icee drinks.
  • Snack Holders
  • Collapsible food containers
  • Sippy Cups for toddlers (you can pour drinks into these since Disney World does not have lids on fountain drinks now)
  • Soft-sided cooler with ice packs if you plan to bring food into the parks.

Also, Disney parks don’t sell gum, so pack your own if you want it.

Pool and water park gear

If you’re planning resort time, bring a few extras so you don’t end up buying them on-site.

Before you toss towels in your suitcase, check your resort first, since many provide them.

Storage and laundry

Disney rooms can feel small, especially with a family. A few organizing items can keep things from turning into a suitcase explosion. We have our tried-and-true resort room must-haves, including:

  • Packing cubes – These will save you tons of space when packing and are even great to use in the hotel drawers or closet to keep clothes organized. I like to pack 2-3 outfits per bag, or you can pack one day of clothes for multiple people in one bag which can be helpful when you have themed outfits for the parks. For example: Outfits for Animal Kingdom or for Magic Kingdom.
  • Hanging closet organizer – These sweater organizers are a great substitute if youdon’t have enough drawers in your room. We always put our kids’ clothes on these. One shelf for each day of our trip so getting ready in the mornings was easy!
  • Pop-up hampers. I like to bring two:
  • Laundry bag to pack the dirty laundry in at the end of the week
  • Stain remover pen, spray or stick
  • Wrinkle release spray
  • Ziploc bags – bring multiple sizes. They can be used for many things during your trip.
    • For leftover snacks – especially helpful if you have younger children who don’t finish their $7 treat.
    • Leftover popcorn – we always refill our popcorn bucket in EPCOT’s Canada Pavilion. It’s the only place you can refill your bucket with MAPLE popcorn. It is the best and makes a great souvenir and treat for the flight home.
    • Little toys or games you buy. Some of these items come with tiny pieces that you don’t want to lose.
    • Receipts – I keep all of my trip receipts in a single ziplock bag during each trip so I don’t lose any.
  • Laundry detergent – If you plan to do laundry, pack laundry detergent sheets, pods, or travel packs and dryer sheets. Disney World resorts have laundry facilities you can use. These laundry detergent sink packs are great if you have to handwash something in the sink.

Documents and travel info

Keep your trip details together, so you aren’t digging through bags at check-in. While you may not need paper tickets or boarding passes anymore, there are still important items to consider bringing:

  • Driver’s license or passport (custody paperwork if necessary)
  • Park tickets or MagicBands
  • Hotel confirmation
  • Flight information
  • Credit cards – (The Chase Disney Inspire card has huge new user bonuses right now! Get the details here.)
  • Some cash for tipping drivers (if you use Mears or private drivers) and bell services if they help you with luggage.
  • Insurance cards
  • Medical Emergency bracelets or card

Apps to Download for Your Trip

I also suggest downloading a few apps to help you during your trip:

  • My Disney Experience app
  • The Play Disney app – This has fun games you can play in the parks. Star Wars: Datapad in Hollywood Studios, Disney Trivia, DuckTales World Showcase Adventure in EPCOT World Showcase, and other fun games to keep you entertained while waiting in lines.
  • A weather app – I prefer Accuweather and like to create a widget on my iPhone that shows me the hourly weather.
  • A grocery delivery app – We use Instacart to order groceries to our resort. Click here to sign up using my referral link and save $10
  • A few fun games to entertain your family if you are stuck in a long line. Head’s Up is a favorite for our family.

Baby and toddler items to Pack for Disney World

Little ones need a few more items, especially for long park days:

Label your stroller with a bright tag or sign, ribbon, sign, or battery-powered lights at night so it’s easier to spot in stroller parking.

Don’t want to pack your stroller? You can rent a stroller from Kingdom Strollers and pick it up at the airport or have it dropped off at your resort! Find out more here.
