Don’t let a rainstorm ruin your Disney World Vacation. Florida is known for having passing showers and thunderstorms pretty regularly. Knowing what to bring to Disney World for the rain is important. Being prepared and packing a few items to keep you dry has to be a priority!

We usually experience at least one rainy day on our Disney World Vacations. While some storms pass quickly other storms are like monsoons and go on and on and on. Yes, rain will certainly disrupt your vacation but rain doesn’t have to ruin the day.

One nice thing about rain is it sometimes empties out the parks. Many families decide to return to their resorts when it begins to rain. If you’re willing, it’s not a bad idea to try to stay and wait for the rain to stop. Your ride lines will be much shorter after the rain if you can stick it out. (There are plenty of rides that are still open when it rains.)

So if you’re going to stay in the parks (or even if you’re going back to the resorts) you want to stay dry. Below are some of our best tips and must-have items to keep you dry at Disney World.

Must have items to pack to be prepared for the rain

DISNEY WORLD RAIN PONCHOS AND UMBRELLAS

Don’t go to Disney without these! A quick shower can very quickly soak your clothes, making you wet and uncomfortable for the rest of the day.

Pack a good poncho. You can also buy a Disney World rain poncho at the parks, they are pricy but they do hold up well. You can also get disposable ponchos at the Dollar Tree, but consider buying higher quality ponchos that are more comfortable (aren’t plastic saunas!) and will last. These are the ponchos that we prefer for adults- they are so much better! If you prefer pack your favorite raincoat.

Umbrellas are great to bring for those light rain showers, and for instant protection until you get to somewhere to put on your poncho. I really like this compact umbrella, it’s decent quality to hold up to the rain and wind.

If you’re heading to Disney World anytime between April and October it is going to be HOT. Make sure you’re prepared so you can stay cool at Disney. Read the post here.

Dry Socks and Extra Shoes

No one likes walking around in soggy wet shoes and socks. When rain is in the forecast we like to pack an extra pair of dry socks and/or a pair of sandals to change into if it rains. You want to avoid getting blisters if you’re walking around in soggy socks.

This is also why we recommend packing 2 different pairs of park shoes (sneakers) for your Disney Vacation. Leave one dry pair in the hotel rooms so that if one pair gets wet you have a dry pair to wear the next day.

Stroller Rain Cover

If you are traveling with a stroller you want to be sure to bring a stroller cover! You need to keep your little one dry and protect your items from getting wet. This is the most popular rain cover for your stroller on Amazon.

Wet bag

Bringing a wet bag is a great idea so you have somewhere to put your wet poncho, socks, etc. without getting everything in your backpack wet. This Disney-themed wet bag is cute!

Setting Expectations

Planning ahead and packing the right things will help you be ready for rainy days at Disney World. You can still have a great time, even if it rains. Set some expectations so your family knows what will happen when it rains. If your family has a little warning and you have a plan, these rainy interruptions won’t completely ruin your trip.
