What is a Disney Park Bag and Do I really need one?

A Disney park bag is just that… a bag you bring to a Disney Park.

When you are planning on spending a day at the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom you want to make sure you don’t need to run back to your resort because you forgot something important.

A park bag can be a backpack, purse, or waist bag that is filled with all of the important things you need to have a great day at Disney.

You’ve been looking forward to your trip for so long. You don’t want an injury or soaked clothes (thank you Florida showers) to ruin your day. Having a park bag packed and ready to go every day is especially important if you are traveling with small children.

Must-haves for your Park day Bag

Below are some of the items that I recommend you consider bringing in your Disney Park Bag. While you might not need ALL of these items, it’s a good idea to be prepared.

** Tip: Pack your bag each night so you don’t have to mess with them in the morning.

MAGIC BANDS OR TICKETS

Whether you use a Magic Band or ticket, don’t forget to bring them along! We do prefer using the MagicBands but really suggest that you buy a set of Magic Band Protectors to keep your bands from accidentally falling off.

PHONE and / or CAMERA

Bringing your phone is crucial if you are planning on using Genie+. If you’d rather unplug for a while you may want to bring your camera so you can capture the memories without being distracted by all of the notifications on your phone. You can always pick up a paper map at the parks.

PORTABLE CHARGER AND PHONE CORD OR FUELROD

If you do decide to bring your phone you will want a way to charge it throughout the day. Disney has several kiosks for FuelRod – Purchase a set of FuelRods (buy them on Amazon, they are cheaper than at Disney!) When your FuelRod runs out of charge, you can find another kiosk and swap it for a fully charged replacement.

LICENSE OR PASSPORT

If you’re planning on enjoying an alcoholic beverage at any Disney restaurant you’ll need to have your ID. You also might need one if you have trouble with your tickets or magic band.

CASH AND CREDIT CARDS

While you can use your MagicBand to charge things to your hotel room, you will likely want to have a credit/debit card and some cash along. It’s nice to have cash for tipping at restaurants too.

SUNGLASSES

It’s also nice to have a glasses case to put your glasses or sunglasses in when you go inside a building or go on a ride. I wear glasses and tend to switch between my prescription sunglasses and regular glasses when I go inside so I prefer a double eyeglass case. This case allows me to have a safe place to put both pairs if I take them off completely for rides. I like to use this case from Amazon, because it has a clip, so I can attach it to my park bag.

HAT OR VISOR

Protecting your skin from the hot Florida sun is important. Besides sunblock wearing a hat or visor will give your face some extra protection.

MINNIE EARS

Don’t forget your Minnie (or Mickey) ears!

STAIN REMOVER PEN/WIpES

Having a stain remover pen or wipes can really help when you’ve had a spill on your favorite Disney tee.

ZIP-LOCK BAGS (QUART & GALLON)

For wet clothes or saving leftover snacks.

BABY WIPES OR WATER WIPES

MINI TRIPOD

Don’t bring a selfie stick – Disney doesn’t allow those but you can bring a small tripod.

EARPLUGS OR NOISE-CANCELING EARPHONES

For your children (or yourself!) if the music or noise becomes too much The fireworks can be especially loud for little ones.

HAIR TIES

PRESSED PENNY BOOKS

You can collect pressed pennies throughout the park. It’s a fun and inexpensive keepsake!

DISNEY COLLECTABLE PINS AND LANYARDS

You can buy and trade pins with cast members at the parks.

SWEATSHIRTS

For the chilly months, when it gets a bit colder in the evenings.

What to Bring for Rain and Heat

Be prepared for the weather at Disney World. Below are items you should bring along so you can fully enjoy your day even if (when) it rains or when it’s really hot!

I’ve shared in-depth articles about the weather in Disney. You can read my post about staying cool in Disney World HERE. You will also find my post about dealing with the rain in Disney HERE.

Florida is hot, and the weather can be unpredictable. Packing a few items to keep you cool and dry is a priority! Below are some items you will want to consider packing.

First Aid Kit for Disney World

While Disney has excellent First Aid centers in each park, it is helpful (and time-saving!) to have a small first aid kit in your park bag. You will likely have someone in your party that ends up with blisters, a headache, or an upset stomach.

PILL CONTAINER

I highly recommend this awesome pill container. I stored all of our park-day pills in this container. It was great!

PAIN RELIEF

Tylenol and/or Advil for any headaches or sore muscles.

Happy Curves is another great option that comes with a body powder puff! Shop here.

ANTI-CHAFE STICKS

Body Glide or this anti-chafe cream will help if you have any issues with uncomfortable chafing from walking around all day.

SMALL PACK TISSUES

EYE DROPS, CONTACT SOLUTION, CONTACT CASE, OR EYEGLASS WIPES

HAND SANITIZER

ANTIBACTERIAL WIPES

These are handy for wiping down tables before eating.

Can You Bring Food Into Disney World?

Yes! You can bring food into Disney Parks and you should!

Not only will this save you lots of money, but your children WILL get hungry and cranky (trust me, you might get “hangry” too!).

Having snacks will quite literally save the day! Some easy snacks to pack are Granola Bars, Chips, Crackers, Cookies, fruit snacks, clementines, apples, etc. Try to skip anything that melts, even chocolate chips.

If you need to keep any snacks or drinks cool you can bring a cooler to carry with you or use a cooler backpack. To keep everything cold you can use ice packs or ice cubes (the ice cubes MUST be in baggies and not loose).

Reusable straws, hydration packets, and snacks.
POPCORN BUCKET

When you are in the park be sure to buy a popcorn bucket. Then bring it with you every day to the parks so you can get a $2 refill whenever you need a snack!

chewing GUM

If you like to chew gum be sure to bring your own because they do not sell gum in any of the parks.

REUSABLE STRAWS

If you don’t like mushy straws then you’ll want to bring your own. Disney, like many other restaurants, is going green and ditching plastic straws and switching to paper straws only. I prefer this style with a case.

What to bring for the kids at disney world.

STROLLER SIGN OR DECORATIONS:

If you are traveling with young children you will likely be bringing a stroller. You will want to find a way to mark your stroller so you can easily find it in the sea of strollers when you get off a ride. Many families make a fun family stroller sign with their family name on it. Others add ribbons, balloons, or twinkle lights.

Stroller Rain Cover

Don’t forget to bring a cover for your stroller in case of rain. – See if this popular Stroller rain cover would work for you.

STROLLER FAN

These bendable fans can be attached or clipped to your stroller to keep your children cool.

Stroller Hooks

These are necessary to hold on to all of the bags and gear! Get a set of 2 here.

GIANT CLIP FOR STROLLER

These huge clips are perfect to hold your shopping bags, diaper bag, and many other things.

GLOW STICKS

These are so much fun for kids while they wait for the fireworks. I like this multi-pack – it has Mickey ears too.

DIAPERS BAG

Don’t forget to fill your diaper bag each night so it’s ready to go in the morning. Pack plenty of diapers, wipes, and a change of clothes in case of accidents. Be sure to pack a wet bag or large ziplock bag to put any soiled or wet clothing in.

BIBS AND TABLE COVERS

Disposable bibs

It’s super nice to have disposable bibs so you’re not dragging around a dirty bib.

Sippy Cups & Bottles

Snack cups

Formula or milk

AUTOGRAPH BOOK AND JUMBO MARKERS

These were so fun to have at the parks. We made our own books and the kids had each character autograph their book. It was a sweet souvenir. Be sure to bring a jumbo marker for the characters to use. They have BIG hands (paws… mitts?)

SMALL TOYS/GAMES

There is a lot of waiting at Disney, waiting in line for a ride, waiting for food, waiting to meet Mickey… Be sure to bring some things to keep your kids entertained while they are waiting. Travel-sized games, toys, small coloring books, and crayons all come in handy. This Eye Found It card game is perfect for waiting in line.

SMALL COOLER AND ICE PACKS

LIGHTWEIGHT BLANKET

For chilly nights or for warming up after getting wet.

BABY CARRIER OR SLING

If you have an infant you might find it easier to use a baby carrier or sling, especially when they need a little extra comfort.
