Even if you are traveling with your children and have a stroller, you will likely need to bring a backpack or bag to corral your items and keep them organized.
Your child(ren) can carry their own lightweight bag. We found it helpful to have our children use their cinch bags to carry their autograph books and sharpies, coins for the pressed penny machines (you likely don’t need quarters anymore! You can use a card!), and some snacks.
Are Backpacks allowed at Disney World?
Yes! You may bring a backpack to a Disney World park and we recommend it! When you are planning to spend a day at one of Disney’s parks, you will want to have some important items with you.
* As long as your bag is no larger than 24″ long x 15″ wide x 18″ high. (Plus no rolling bags or luggage is allowed!). Plus all bags are subject to screening.
Disney does have some rules that you need to follow if you are bringing in a bag:
You can read all of the Disney World Park Rules, and policies here.
What kind of backpack should I use at Disney?
The type and size of the backpack (or bag) you will need depends on who you travel with and what you prefer. I’ve written a whole post filled with some of the best park bag suggestions.
When we travel with our children they each carry a small backpack. We’ve done this since our first trip and they’ve been great sports about it and rarely complained.
Cinch Bags
In the past when we traveled with our 7 & 9-year-olds we got them each their own cinch-style backpacks, this way they could help carry a few of their own items.
Traditional Backpack
You may want to use a traditional lightweight backpack like this one. I prefer using a small backpack like the Loungefly backpack or this faux leather bag below:
Smaller Bags
Sling bags and waist bags are also very popular and perfect if you prefer that style.
You may only need a small crossbody purse if you’re not carrying too much. I like the Vera Bradley bags for this.
what to look for when buying a Bag to take to Disney World
Size
Decide what size you’d like for your bag. My husband tends to carry a larger bag while I like to try to carry a small backpack or wear a waist bag.
Comfort
Make sure your bag is comfortable. The straps should be wide enough so they don’t cut into your shoulders.
Storage Spaces
You want to make sure your bag has the storage spots that you need. You may want a cooler backpack so you can bring lunch or snacks for your family. You may want to have a smaller exterior pocket for your phone or sunglasses. It’s also important to have a pocket for your water bottle if you bring one along.
Weather resistance
Make sure your bag can handle the weather in Disney. If your bag is not waterproof be sure to have a poncho or umbrella to cover it when it rains.
